Dallas’ airport, one of world’s busiest, evacuates during holiday rush after smoke from air-conditioning

No coincidences.  First Atlanta, now Dallas.  Both due to “smoke”.  Can we say “Q the smoke”?

Dallas Love Field, the fourth-busiest airport in North America, evacuated early Friday at the height of the holiday travel rush after an air-conditioning unit started to emit smoke, the airport said in a statement.

Hundreds of travelers were evacuated from the airport at around 4:33 a.m. due to the smoke from overheating in the air-conditioning unit, the statement said.

As Q shared today:

Here is what I found (so far).  May be more to come…

*AspenPointe CEO Pattinson abruptly resigns
*Dr. J. Mario Molina has resigned from the board of the health insurer his father founded
*Randall Stephenson, chairman and CEO of AT&T, resigns from Board of Boeing
*Papa John’s founder is out as of today as CEO weeks after NFL comments
*CEO Markus Jooste (Steinhoff ~ clothing and furniture retailer) resigned with immediate effect after the discovery of accounting irregularities.
*Forestar Group CEO Phillip Weber will be resigning December 28
*Former MBL (major baseball league) Executive Bob Bowman
*Scana Corporation chairman and CEO Kevin Marsh.  He has since announced he will give up his seat as a director of the utility owner. (Interesting as I found this article stating back in late October South Carolina House Speaker called for his resignation, stating he “cannot be trusted”.)

The Senate Intelligence Committee has added another party to its investigation of the Trump administration’s collusion with Russia during the 2016 election: Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

The Washington Post reports: “Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) told reporters Monday that the Senate Intelligence Committee has “two other campaigns that we’re just starting on,” in addition to the panel’s ongoing probe of alleged ties between the Trump administration and Kremlin officials. One of those he identified as Stein’s; Burr has indicated previously that the committee is also looking into reports that the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign paid for research that went into a dossier detailing allegations of Donald Trump’s 2013 exploits in Moscow.”

On This Solstice (Soul-stice) Evening 2017…

Life has pretty much forced me to go within the past 48 hours.  My little one came down with some virus and has been pretty couch-ridden as well as quiet.  It’s strange to have the house so silent.

All day I have thought and felt ~ what does this day mean to me?  In years past I didn’t give it much thought.  In my younger years, I would go to a friends house and have grilled salmon and drink the local holiday batch of Widmer Beer (it was nice to have friends who knew the Widmer Brother’s). Given my friend was an avid fisherman, the Winter Solstice was a grand day as it signaled the slow return of longer days, thus longer time spent fishing.

Becoming a parent, I was happy to see the day arrive as it meant those longer, light-filled days were beginning thus more time spent playing outside.  (a big deal when you are a parent)

This year though I desired to find the “meaning”.  Solstice, derived from sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still).  In pondering that, I hear the following words…

Oh though the noise
of my beautiful human brain
calls to me to listen
to yet another story
I hear a Higher calling.

Beyond my comprehension
and yet familiar to my heart
it speaks in simplicity.

Be still and feel.
Go within and hear.
For there is the wisdom of All.

And just as nature quiets herself
this time of year
so too much I.

For there
in the silence
I find my own Soul-stice.
