Digging into this meteor thing some more….

 

  1. I learned over 25 million meteors enter our atmosphere daily.  Most obviously burn up.  That would make one think (as it did me) “ok, 6-7000 hits in a 24 hour period doesn’t sound so unusual then.”  That is unless there is a variation – i.e. certain times of the year we see higher counts.  So I went digging some more and…
  2. …I found this chart that shows the average meteor “hits” per month.  This time of year we are normally seeing 2-3000/day.  Not 7000.  Found the chart at this site.

Who knows.  The guy who put up the original video that lead me to post in the first place is still apparently waiting to hear from someone who can verify if this is normal.  If it is, then we move on and say nothing to see here folks.  If it isn’t, then perhaps one of the little trolls who have stopped by the past few days to offer up such helpful, kind words can take the wand…  As my good friend and neighbor likes to sing, “I’m movin’ on…”
