The word I used to describe it to my spouse on returning home from the shops, was ‘manic’.

I also witnessed some proper ‘zombie’ like behaviour. One example was a guy trying to cross the road in front of where I was parking the car, whilst looking bewildered and as you said ‘glazed’. Also a lady with 2 small dogs on leads was totally oblivious to the fact that they were running back and forth onto the road where I was trying to park. I ended up raising my arms at her in frustration. Wanted to scream WTF are you doing?!! Are you not see what your dogs are doing?! She looked blank and not there 🙃
