oh yes ~ i feel the pets go with their owner's/parent's. same for children. this is about ending separation ~ not creating more of it. love follows where love is, if that makes sense.

Hi. Very sorry to hear about the dog incident.

You could also download a dog whistle app. for your phone... this would provide distraction for a barking dog... you may even see them off by using the highest frequency.

I use one for our 2 neighbors packs of dogs (why have 1 when you can have 4 dogs each), set each other off, and ruin the tranquility of the neighborhood, regularly.

I have them all trained now - I might hear one or two barks, but gone are the days of incessant barking for an hour or more.

Glad neither you nor your daughter were hurt - glad you told the owner off too.

thank you, Victoria. And I had the "feeling" the woman was a foster parent to it, not the real owner. Kind of training it.
I wondered about pets going with us in the transition. I have a nice cat, so I hope she goes with me.

i'm so sorry you had that experience patricia. it's frightening ~ even if on a leash. i don't get the fascination with pitbulls. they are not natural. they were created to be aggressive so even if one has a sweet one - there is that genetic disposition to snap on a dime. i experienced that today. dogs are animals - not people. they are wired differently. i used to treat my former dog like a human until i learned - they are animals and i could not just trust my dog with another the way i would say my child. purely instinctual and therefore may behave in an unexpected manner. i have a feeling as we transition animals will have a different relationship with us. if they wish to live with us, they will let us know. if not - well the end of pets as we know it is something i have seen. and i say this as a life long dog owner and lover who would like to own a dog in the new but now my mate and i feel differently.

I've had it with ppl and their dogs too. Ppl and their aggressive dogs. I don't get it. A few months ago, I was walking in my favorite park, where everybody has to have their dog on a leash. But when I saw a woman with a pit bull, I thought eeeuww. I walked over onto the next path parallel to the sidewalk, and they approached closer, the pit bull barked and barked at me. Luckily, it was on a leash and the woman disciplined it. I was hoping she was strong enough to hold the leash firm. I don't trust any dog, but there's something wrong with pit bulls.
