The Honorable Brett M. Kavanaugh will be sworn in as the 102nd Associate Justice of the Supreme Court on October 6, 2018. Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., will administer the Constitutional Oath and retired Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy will administer the Judicial Oath in a private ceremony later today in the Justices’ Conference Room at the Supreme Court. Both oaths will be administered so that he can begin to participate in the work of the Court immediately.
A formal investiture ceremony will take place at a special sitting of the Court in the Courtroom at a later date.

WASHINGTON — A deeply divided Senate voted on Saturday to confirm Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, delivering a victory to President Trump and ending a rancorous Washington battle that began as a debate over ideology and jurisprudence and concluded with questions of sexual misconduct.
Mr. Trump said Judge Kavanaugh would be quickly sworn in. “I applaud and congratulate the U.S. Senate for confirming our GREAT NOMINEE, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, to the United States Supreme Court,” he wrote on Twitter. “Later today, I will sign his Commission of Appointment, and he will be officially sworn in. Very exciting!”
The Senate vote was 50 to 48, almost entirely along party lines. It did not go smoothly — protesters repeatedly interrupted the proceedings, with the Capitol Police dragging screaming demonstrators out of the gallery as the senators sat somberly at their wooden desks in the chamber below. “This is a stain on American history!” one woman cried, as the vote wrapped up. “Do you understand?”

Trump Slams Protesting “Elevator Screamers”: ‘They’re Paid For By Soros’

Thousands of demonstrators, including celebrity “feminists” like Amy Schumer and Emily Ratajkowski, descended on Capitol Hill Thursday to protest Trump SCOTUS pick Judge Brett Kavanaugh after the FBI once again found no evidence of sexual misconduct in the SCOTUS nominee’s past. Their concerns were promptly ignored by the Senate, which is planning to hold a confirmation vote for Kavanaugh as soon as tomorrow. But in response to the revelation that several of the professional activists, including the two young women who accosted Senator Jeff Flake last week, were exposed as “employees” of a non-profit organization funded by George Soros, President Trump has weighed in on Twitter, blasting the “elevator screamers” in a tweet that was essentially red meat for his base.
Trump slammed the “very rude elevator screamers”, accusing them of being “paid professionals only looking to make Senators look bad” before warning the American people “Don’t fall for it!” As evidence of the coordination behind the supposedly grass roots protest, Trump pointed to the signs carried by demonstrators and their suspiciously polished appearance “Look at the professionally made identical signs,” Trump said. “Paid for by Soros and others.’
