‘Flabbergasted’: Chase Bank forgives all credit card debt for Canadian customers

 

This is legit news.  Wow!  It’s begun – as many have said for awhile now (including HATJ and her paperwork filings) – debt relief for ALL of us.  Credit cards first – then loans, etc.  (my feel)

Canadians who had credit cards with Chase Bank can breathe a sigh of relief as the company says it will “forgive” all outstanding debt.

Chase Bank, part of the New York based JPMorgan Chase & Co., closed all credit card accounts in the country in March 2018, the company said.

Originally, customers were told to continue paying their debt, Reuters reported, but the company confirmed Friday to USA TODAY the debt was now cancelled.

“Chase made the decision to exit the Canadian credit card market. As part of that exit, all credit card accounts were closed on or before March 2018. A further business decision has been made to forgive all outstanding balances in order to complete the exit,” Maria Martinez, vice president of communications for Chase Card Services, said in a statement.

Chase declined to say how much debt was forgiven or how many customers were affected. It wasn’t immediately clear when the decision was made, but CBC spoke with some Canadians who said they received a letter from Chase this week.

“I was sort of over the moon all last night, with a smile on my face,” Douglas Turner of Coe Hill, Ontario, told the Canadian broadcaster. Turner said he still owed more than $4,500 on his card. “I couldn’t believe it.”

DOJ releases FBI documents on Bruce Ohr interviews about Trump dossier author Christopher Steele

The Justice Department released the heavily redacted notes from a dozen FBI interviews with Bruce Ohr, the DOJ official who met with dossier author Christopher Steele numerous times, including after the bureau cut the former MI6 agent off as a source because of improper leaks to the media.

Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group based in Washington, D.C., obtained 34 pages of the FBI’s notes, known as “302s,” as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit after the agency declined to voluntarily hand over the requested materials. In court filings last week, DOJ attorneys said the department “decided to release the requested records in part to plaintiff.”

Ohr, who worked with Steele for years and acted as an unofficial conduit between Steele and the bureau during the Trump-Russia investigation, had a dozen such interviews with the FBI. One of them took place in November 2016, three in December 2016, three in January 2017, two in February 2017, and three in May 2017. Ohr was the fourth-ranking official at the DOJ until he was demoted after it came to light that he met with Steele and Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of the opposition research firm Fusion GPS, which commissioned Steele’s work. Ohr’s wife Nellie also worked for Fusion GPS in 2016.

i love the synch with this piece.  when i awoke this morning, i struggled to move much less pull myself out of bed.  it was then that i heard “it is the soul piece of you here that is tired – not your body”.  VERY beautiful, truthful, timely article.  (i changed the title and removed the word “disturbing” as it is not anything to fear when the Soul is tired.  soul weary – that is me – off and on for so very long most esp. the past 2 years)

i know what it is i long for – Home and that experience is not to be found here as things are.  today i am seriously out of sync w/this experience.  truth love freedom and connection is what i long for – not this “movie”.

It’s been a bad week for accidental explosions in Russia, as a second massive blast killed two people and injured six at a Barents Sea military facility after a liquid-propelled rocket engine exploded.

A “short-term increase in radiation” was detected in the port city of Severodvinsk at 11:50 a.m., falling back to normal range around 2 p.m. according to the Straits Times, which added that the incident happened in close proximity to shipyards where nuclear submarines are produced.

“During the test of a liquid propellant jet engine, an explosion occurred and the equipment caught fire,” said a Russian spokesman. “As a result of the accident, six defence ministry employees and a developer were injured. Two specialists died of their wounds.”

We may not have to wait for a traveler from the Democratic Republic of Congo to visit the United States for an Ebola outbreak. It just might be brought to us by our own military along with the plague and other horrifying germs.

The laboratory at Fort Detrick, the  U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, has been sent a cease-and-desist order by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention after a second inspection showed sloppy handling of deadly germs and viruses.
