Former Baltimore Mayor and Brother of N. Pelosi Thomas D’Alesandro III dies ~

A spokesman for Pelosi said D’Alesandro died Sunday morning at his north Baltimore home after complications from a stroke. D’Alesandro was 90.

D’Alesandro served as Baltimore City Council president and then as mayor from 1967 to 1971, and it was during his time as mayor when the riots in 1968 happened.

His father, prominent Maryland politician Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., also held the position of Baltimore mayor. The elder D’Alesandro also served as a state delegate and congressman.
